"My fascination with the life of the cowboy and the West goes back many years. The cowboy is part of our American heritage. His ability to ride, rope, break horses and move cattle over long distances while coping with severe weather in wild rugged country has always intrigued me. I love showing the west and the cowboy in action oriented situations. My paintings are realistic depictions of scenes and people. I like to think of them as graphic documentaries of another time and place."

Ralph’s career spans more than six decades. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, American Academy of Art and in Berlin Germany.

It was during this period he began his first hand account of the American Cowboy from round-ups to trail drives. This experience provided memorable relationships and inspiration for his paintings.
